With the popularity of the dining videos on the fehquig channel increasing, I thought that they could use their own channel in the same way that the Taxi Vlogs have their own channel. Just like RUclips needs a food category, fehquig productions needs a food channel. This food channel is a little different in that we rarely prepare any food. Cindy and I specialize in dining, and we enjoy reviewing our dining experiences. I hope that you will come along and enjoy our meals vicariously...

This one, like some other more recent special release Ardbegs just doesn't do it for me so far. The port finish and the peat smoke are at odds instead of complementing each other. This is one of my favourite liqueurs. Always have a bottle on hand for when wanting a sweet treat.
It is one of the better whisky and maple syrup liqueurs that I have tasted...
I like this one as well, will replace the bottle if they are still on the shelf.
It's definitely worth replacing when the bottle goes dry if you can find it!
NOW ! you are talking, brother Quig. . . 60$ +tax included in Ontario ... Zehr gut ! ... Corn + Malted barley (no rye i believe), very yummy.
Zehr gut!
this was a great one, wish I bought more bottles of it
I will need to see if the Tudor House has any...
@@foodquig good luck!
Came from my local distillery. Its sorced but from what i hear they do a great job. At the time this one didnt fit my budget. Sounds like i messed up on that. If and when they have another whisky available let me know maybe we can work out another trade save some shipping costs
I imagine the juice is sourced, but isn't it aged by Paradigm?
@@foodquig might have been for a while theyve only been open 3 or 4 years
Tried it at the Ardbeg Day event in Vancouver. Was very disappointed. I'm an Ardbeg fan, but this was not great.
We seem to be on the same page...
"I wouldn't buy this. I don't know why Mike sent this to me." Well, I'm sure he sent it to you because he thought that you'd like it. Maple Whisky is quite popular in Canada, probably because we're all very accustomed to maple flavours. Saying you don't like it is fine, but saying that you don't know why he sent it to you is just plain rude because he clearly put a lot of time, effort and expense into it. Your lack of appreciation is apalling. I don't know if Canadians are overly polite or if Americans just have terrible manners but those words REALLY rubbed me the wrong way and I'm sure that I'm not the only one to think that.
Mike sent me other samples of maple syrup whisky that I did like... I was just being honest. I didn't like THAT one. By the way, I am Canadian, not American. Incidentally, you are the first one to react this way since the video was uploaded, and that was over a year ago.
This is the first Two Brewers I've been able to get my hands on and I finally opened it recently. It's one of the best whisky's I've had this year, maybe of the last couple years.
They definitely put together some fine products...
You'd never no this was a whisky review based on some of the notes lol. I'd giver a go too. If its bad you dont have to have more. But if you dont try it you may have missed a gem. But not this time lol
This may be the worst of the worst!
Hey Andy how are you my friend. Been a while since i tuned in for a whisky. Been cheating on you with another channel for a bit lol. Hope your summer is going well. I should have a box of samples ready to ship your way soon. This scotch sounds like a good one.
Hey, stranger!
for some reason this reminded me of the ledaig bourbeuax wine cask 9 year old. Is that still your most treasured experience in whisky?
Glad this one is getting good. Independent cask strength bottles that are from refill bourbon hogsheads tend to be all about spirit character. When opening these kinds of bottles I often use a clean empty bottle to split it into two half full bottles and leave them for at least two weeks to open up. Having drams during that time to see how things are going. Usually two weeks is enough time but every once in a while it needs a month. As Mortlach is celebrated for it's spirit character it sounds great. Cheers
Sometimres, like with this bottle, I give it a try after a month or so... Then I ignore it for two or three more months and usually have a very pleasant surprise the next time I pour a dram. Either way, we get to the same conclusion.
UMAMI notes ! . . . Mortlach can be really good from Independent Bottles, but Diageo stuff can be hit + miss at clown-y prices
Very true...
I just want to say that i love your videos and how detailed you are. Keep em rolling!
Thank you. I will keep going, fortunes permitting...
LCBO is on strike, so no more whisky purchases for a while. Fortunately, I live in Ottawa, so I can always drive across the river and go to an SAQ.
It could be worse... You could be farther from that bridge to Gatineau.
Oh man ! u beat us Ontarians to it (on strike u know) . . . 150$ is a bit steep for us Canucks, but if quality is good, ok, i get 1
It was the fifteenth of June at the Summer Spirit Release when I bought this bottle. I'm also looking forward to future editions!
First time hearing about this one, sounds interesting.
It's very interesting. Where Alberta Premium, at 40% is a bit light, and cask strength is just too much, this whisky represents tha happy medium . It's in the Goldilocks zone, it's just right inmy opinion...
only the 10 from ardbeg has ever impressed me, and what before it went downhill to my palate
What about Supernova and Dark Cove? I liked those a lot, The Perpetuum as well, but their special releases have become more of a miss in recent years...
@@foodquig I never had the fortune to try, but I had enjoyed that old 10 before it too went downhill
NL is Newfoundland and Labrador, don't forget Labrador. I guess I'll stick with Crown Royal Northern Harvest Rye.
Great choice! Alberta Premium is one of my standbys
Good idea...
Crown royal is very poor whisky
Lol, it's one of the best selling whiskies in the world, someone must like it.
@@shanegiggie It's good for mixing. And it's also eye catching to people that don't know jack about whisky. That doesn't mean it's necessarily good, but it's good enough and the marketing/packaging takes care of the rest.
@@VazzVegas Pretty much

Hey man. Of course I found your channel after seeing your viral video. I am now kinda in the same predicament. Glad to say I feel solace in your reviews. Thanks
You're welcome!
this man has mastered his emotions, divorce breaks people and hes just sipping on laphoaig. so much respect to you sir.
Port-sk(e)y : NO THANKS, you can keep it all.
Laphroaig made an excellent Port cask finish called "Brodir" some years ago... I liked it a lot more than the beginning of this Ardbeg. I'm going to give it a chance to improve.
I cant believe i came here because of reddit, thinking this was gonna be some toxix thing, but actually just kinda sad plus me wondering why someone would drink something smelling like tar... Cant believe i found that video so fast too
wait if exists!?!?!
Clean my palate real good. 😂
Yup.
I l-o-v-e this lady's comments ; EXACTLY and freshly "as is" from the brain-washing promo of the industry.
I knew she was a good guest from the first time she sat in front of a camera last year...
I have a bottle of this brand new anyone interested?
I agree with her. The old packaging of Glenmorangie looked dignified and expensive. I have a bottle of Calvados from an old small family farm with 100+ year old Pear orchards that they use to make their Calvados. Will make sure to put away a sample for you. Cheers
I don't usually pay much attention to the packaging because I'm more interested in what's inside the bottle. That being said, I like to have a variety of styles of packaging for the wall...
The package to me came directly from the local pre-school. Decoupage and finger paint.
There you go!
i haven't experienced it, but have heard from another channel that soap off-note can be a result of proofing down whisky too fast. copied this from a site "Some distillers add water very gradually, giving the spirit time to rest between additions. This is believed to prevent saponification, where the water brings out fats or oils from suspension in the distillate, which can give the whiskey a soapy taste." surprised a big brand like glenmo let the quality control slip, maybe the bottling plant isn't done themselves?
I think there are other things that can influence the soapiness of whisky... Otherwise, adding two spoons of water to a dram quickly could make it taste soapy easily, and I have never experienced soapiness in that way.
Paid zero to view. 😂
True
Good video.
@@johnellington1932 Thank you!
You tell 'em, girl ! . . . their marketing, especially the Ardberg . . . cheap and cheesy too ! . . . haha, a dose of reality, a real SMACK in the face of them numbnuts who worship whiskies/scotches chasers/hunters. . .
Super good release, i have them all.
If memory serves, you had a birthday just a few days ago right?
I turned 60 on the 2nd of July...
@@foodquig Happy birthday!
This is from the last bottle of bourbon I have. Yes, 1st release of 2017. I bought it 6 years ago when I was a bourbon drinker and transitioned to Scotch around that time. Had another one (C917-3rd release of 2017) that I took with me to Scotland in 2022 to pour for everyone I met up with and lots of people in shops, bars, and distilleries. Got the idea from watching all the travel videos Phil and Deepa did of their trip in 2019. Quite a few people were working, but over there it's common to have sample bottles under the bar, so a lot of folks had one to take home. Cheers
When I went to the UK, I took some 40 year old Canadian Club with me... It was a hit at Milroy's in Soho. It was a lot of fun sharing hard-to-find whisky with people who have never tried it, and wouldn't get the opportunity ever again.
@@foodquig Oh yes, I opened mine at the Bon Accord in Glasgow with Roy and he said you brought a whole bottle of that that was shared out to lots of people. I had a sample of that from you as well as the following bottles in that series. For me that was the best one in the series
@@DonnerPassWhisky Yes, after that forty year old CC, the Chronicles series was a bit of a disappointment...
It's $91 for this bottle here in Montreal,Qc. Is it worth the price ?
It's a very good one. I think it's worth the money...
she seems like a fun whisky partner
Jen is a "natural."

Whisky + Friend = 10/10 FUN ! .......... and no burping in front of a lady = priceless, eh !
We had avery good time with this one...
Still have a bottle of batch 12 put away. Great stuff. Cheers and Happy Birthday
Stashed bottles are wonderful... Good on you!
I share your sentiments about what to do with new-to-me Laphroaig batches!
Way to go!
this is $65 U.S. in my area in case you were wondering, Cheers
the tropical fruit basket is what i liked about arran10 back in the day, but i cant get that here anymore, and heard they went heavier on the sherry now anyway. also the higher proof on this is always appreciated
Thi swhisky is a great way to get close to the end of an evening... It is comparable to Arran 10.
Is there any room left on your whisky wall?
I'm about 2/3 on the way to completing the second row...
Glad you were able to try this. The batch was a bunch of bourbon casks with just a few Port and Sauterne casks. In the context of everything available in Scotland, it's high priced. Compared to everything Bruichladdich sells except the Classic Laddie and PC 10, it's actually a good price for 18 years. They have a bunch of special releases that are single digit age and cost $120-160. Then, of course, Octomore 4-5yr at $250-350. I hear the Port Charlotte 18 is very good, and I like that the cask makeup is completely different from this, so they are both unique experiences. Cheers
I would love to try Port Charlotte 18... That's going on my wish list.
Solid sample. Big cheers to DPW. While this one sounds like good stuff its bit on pricy side for me so i dont miss it and still enjoy £35 on sale offer Classic Ladie. Slàinte 😁🥂🥂🥂🙋♂️
Price is often a consideration thgese days...
Wow!! You need a Total Wine store near you! $57.99 here in San Diego.
I very much doubt that Total Wine would ever open up in Canada. First of all, in this province, any alcoholic beverage has to go through the BC Liquor Board first before it's sold here, and they more or less set the prices. There ain't no such thing as free enterprise here when it comes to liquor. Things are expensive, yes, but you won't get any more gouging when it comes to hard-to-find items.
Too bad you did not have a little of your first bottle to compare, but I do the same thing. I wait until the first is empty before opening the next bottle. Thanks for the review!👍
Bottles typically don't last a year on my bar even if I'm being careful. Expecting an opened bottle to last more than two years is really pushing it. I would expect the long-opened bottle to be more complex than a freshly opened example, so they would drfinitely not be the same...
